ORDINANCES - 1ST READING

  • Consider ORDINANCE 23-2014 entitled AN ORDINANCE REGULATING SMOKING IN PARKS, PUBLIC PLACES, AND AREAS IN WHICH THE CITY HAS GRANTED AN ENCROACHMENT PERMIT OR SPECIAL EVENTS PERMIT.

BACKGROUND:

  • The Daviess County Fiscal Court adopted Ordinance KOC No. 450.1 in 2005 regulating smoking in enclosed places that allow persons under the age of 18 to enter. The Board of Commissioners of the City of Owensboro wishes to affirm its support of the provisions of KOC No. 450.1 (2005). In order to serve the public health, safety, and welfare, it is the declared purpose of this Ordinance to further restrict or prohibit smoking in certain areas of the City of Owensboro. This Ordinance is an amended first reading due to changes from the original draft document.

RECOMMENDATION: Introduced and publicly read as amended on first reading.
