HENDERSON, Ky. (3/7/13) – The KHSAA (Kentucky High School Athletic Association) auditioned high school students across the state of Kentucky to sing the National Anthem at the 2013 High School Boys Sweet Sixteen State Basketball Tournament at Rupp Arena in Lexington, Kentucky.
Henderson County High School senior Katelin Coursey auditioned and will sing tomorrow night, March 8, 2013 before the evening session at 6:30 p.m. (EST).
This is her first year being selected to sing the National Anthem at the boys state basketball tournament; however, she has performed the anthem twice at the girls state basketball tournament in Bowling Green, Kentucky.
Katelin has sung the National Anthem at multiple high school basketball games and the regional archery competition. She is involved in many other school activities and serves in the high school's Student Ambassador Program. She is actively involved with the Evansville Civic Theater having performed in several productions including Footloose, Children of Eden, Chicago, and Fame. She has choreographed productions through the Evansville Civic Theater.
Katelin has been involved in musical theater for many years getting her start through the Henderson Fine Arts Center productions of Hello Dolly, Once a Upon a Mattress, and Anything Goes. In addition to the arts, Katelin is actively involved in her church youth group at Zion Baptist Church. She is the reigning Henderson County Distinguished Young Woman, received 2nd runner-up at the state competition, and won the Spirit of Junior Miss Award..
