Kentucky Arts Council Offers Branding, Award Opportunity for Artists with Disabilities

applications acceptedFRANKFORT, Ky. (1/29/14) — The Kentucky Arts Council is seeking submissions from artists with disabilities to be used as the agency's accessibility programs and services brand.

One piece of artwork by an artist with a disability will be chosen and purchased from the artist to be included in the arts council's collection.

Artists may submit up to two two-dimensional works to be considered for the purchase award.

The work will be professionally photographed for use in publications, websites, advertisements and other promotions by the arts council.

"The Kentucky Arts Council's work with artists with disabilities will continue for years to come, and we would like to be able to brand that work with an image created by an artist from the community," said Lori Meadows, arts council executive director. "This award creates a professional arts opportunity for all of those who apply, not just for the artist whose work is chosen in the end. We look forward to receiving the submissions."

The artist whose work is selected and two additional artist applicants will also be awarded an opportunity to have up to five of their works professionally photographed.

The three artists will receive a digital and hardcopy package of images for their own marketing and promotion purposes.

Artists with disabilities age 18 and older who live in Kentucky may participate.

Guidelines and submission criteria is available online at Kentucky Arts Council.

The deadline to apply is Feb. 14.
