WKU Offering Topper Educator Graduate Scholarship

(8/12/13) – Beginning with the fall 2013 semester, students enrolled in the following graduate programs at Western Kentucky University will be eligible to apply for a scholarship that will guarantee them a graduate tuition rate of $395 per credit hour: Master of Arts in Education, Master of Arts, Master of Science, and Master of Music programs leading to a Teacher Leader endorsement; Master of Arts in Literacy Education, Education Specialist in Elementary Education and Education Specialist in Secondary Education; Education Specialist in Educational Administration and the P-12 Principal Preparation program.
 
Depending on the program and program delivery (face-to-face classes or online classes), the Topper Educator Graduate Scholarship will enable graduate students to save up to $8,299 on the cost of a graduate professional education program. The scholarship will increase based on any annual growth in tuition rates, so the cost to the students will remain $395 per credit hour regardless of changes in overall tuition.
 
In order to qualify for the Topper Educator Graduate Scholarship, students must have graduated from WKU or they must be an employed educator in one of the school districts belonging to the Green River Regional Educational Cooperative (GRREC).
 
Graduate students who are already enrolled in the aforementioned programs at WKU are also eligible to apply for the scholarship. Qualifying students will be able to use the scholarship for up to three years—fall, winter, spring and summer semesters/terms. Some courses will begin during the first bi-term of the upcoming fall semester, and some will begin during the second bi-term.
 
“Our new Topper Educator Graduate Scholarship program is designed to assist dedicated educators with their professional development,” said Dr. Sam Evans, Dean of the College of Education and Behavioral Sciences at WKU. “Through our individualized and innovative programs, WKU is building on our past record of excellence in helping educators to employ best teaching practices connected to student learning. By offering this scholarship, we hope to make our graduate professional education programs more accessible for educators who aspire to become teacher leaders or administrators.”
 
For information concerning the scholarship program and MAE, MS, MA, MM programs leading to a Teacher Leader endorsement, MAE in Literacy Education, and Ed.S programs in Elementary or Secondary Education, interested candidates should contact the WKU School of Teacher Education at (270) 745-5414.
