KY Cold Case—Stabbing Victim Found in Residence

kycoldcase andersonKENTUCKY (5/29/12)—The Kentucky State Police (KSP) investigate criminal activity across the entire Commonwealth of Kentucky, and, in many instances, the information provided by individual citizens allows law enforcement officials to make important breakthroughs in difficult cases.

With this in mind, members of the KSP Post 1 in Mayfield, KY are requesting help from the public in resolving the murder of Margaret Anderson.

As reported, officials received a complaint of a woman being “down” at her residence on 173 McCollum Road in Ledbetter, KY (Livingston County) on July 17th, 2006.

Soon after, KSP troopers were advised that a neighbor had gone over to check on the woman. The neighbors noted that the door was ajar and that they could see a seemingly unconscious woman inside the residence.

Upon arrival, and after further investigations were conducted, it was found that Margaret S. Anderson, 61, the resident of the home, was fatally wounded by a sharp unknown object. As KSP officials report, Anderson suffered multiple stab wounds to the chest, back, and hands. She succumbed to her wounds within her home.

At this time, the person or persons responsible for the crime remain unknown. A motive for the murder is also unknown and/or unreleased at this time.
