american idolWESTERN KENTUCKY (8/15/12) – Hopeful musicians have a chance to take their dreams to the next level on Friday, August 17 in Bowling Green. A new way to audition for “American Idol” will be coming to town known as the “American Idol Small Town Audition Bus Tour.”

This bus tour will be visiting 10 towns throughout the US to give residents the chance to audition, according to the show’s website. Bowling Green is the sixth of the ten cities to be visited.

Auditions will take place from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. in Fountain Square Park. Unlike the regular auditions in bigger cities, registration will take place the day of auditions. No overnight camping at the location will be allowed.

The judges of the show will not be present, but rather two producers will, according to Kim Lancaster, Public Information Officer of Bowling Green. These producers will decide who gets to receive a golden ticket to go on to sing elsewhere.

More detailed information of how to audition can be found at http://media.americanidol.com/season_12_auditions/ai12_bus_tour_audition_rules.pdf.

Citizens should be advised that the portions of Park Row and Main Street between State and College Street will be closed for the event.

According to Lancaster, a crowd of between 800 and 1200 is expected as other cities of the tour have received around 1000 people.
