Readers Asked to Pick Muhlenberg Story of the Year

TOPSTORIESMUHLENBERG COUNTY, Ky. (12/3/13) There was lots of big news made in Muhlenberg County in 2013. From the controversial closings of two coal-fired units at TVA to a star-studded Thumbicker reunion.

STORY ONE: The Death of Amy Dennison shocked Muhlenberg County. Dennison was the mother of five children and the man accused of this murder had his day in court in 2013. Convicted in September of this year was Lennie J. Dillon. The horrifying details of the case are below.

STORY TWO: Many officials and citizens were outraged that TVA even considered closing, much less actually going through with plans to close the TVA coal-fired units at their Paradise plans. Many say this fight is not over.

STORY THREE: James Best, who has appeared in hundreds of movies and TV shows including "The Dukes of Hazzard" came home to Powderiy for a rare area appearance. STORY FOUR: As many in the county were outraged by the proposed closing of two of TVA's three coal-fired units, many more were up in arms about serious cutbacks in funding by the state for many smaller and even medium and large state parks, leaving Lake Malone with no security lights and no gas for boaters much of the year. Without these two simple essentials many see the park living on borrowed time. See what you think.
