Business Spotlight: Mike Walker State Farm Insurance

state farm 300MADISONVILLE, Ky. (1/15/14) — Founded back in 1922 by a retired farmer and insurance salesman, George Jacobs’ philosophy for State Farm Insurance was to be fair and do what’s right for customers. Today, this philosophy still drives the company and serves more than 75 million policies and employs more than 68,000 people in both the U.S. and Canada.

“I’ve been with State Farm Insurance here in Madisonville since Dec. 1, 1984,” said Mike Walker, State Farm agent. “I was selected to be an additional agent at the time. I started from scratch and now I am in my 30th year.”

State Farm is a member of the FDIC and Equal Housing Lender, they also offer other products by affiliate companies of State Farm Bank that are not insured by the FDIC.

“How it works is, State Farm always does a study in every market area,” said Walker. “That determines the penetration and number of agents needed per market area.”

Walker’s mission is to help people manage the risks of everyday life, recover from the unexpected and realize their dreams. Walker and his associates are there to help get people to a better state by providing insurance and financial services to cover life’s changing needs every step of the way.

“It’s a matter of building a business,” said Walker. “I have been fortunate and blessed to be able to do this and as I look back, the opportunity has been great for me. I have also had good support with the company over the years and so it’s worked out well.”

Walker said, “When you continue to grow a business, not only is it hard work but you have to put everything you have on the line.”
