Light of Chance Readies Another Installment of “Breathe”

light chance 300MADISONVILLE, Ky (1/28/14) – Light of Chance, Inc. will kick off the Spring semester of its Breathe Youth Arts Program, Tuesday, Feb. 4 at the Rosenwald-Smith Multi-Cultural Center, located in Madisonville at 208 N. Kentucky Ave.

Each Tuesday, from 3:30 to 6 p.m., youth from grades five through 12, will actively engage in hands-on, creative arts workshops.

This semester, aptly themed, "A Beautiful Mess," offers classes in music, screen printing and dance.

“We chose the theme, A Beautiful Mess because we want our youth to fully embrace themselves, flaws and all,” says, Light of Chance director, Eric Logan. “We want to show them that the things they may dislike about themselves are a part of what makes them unique and beautiful. Hopefully that message will resonate through their work.”

Logan adds, “We are expecting this semester to be moving for us all.”

Breathe develops creativity while providing a positive learning environment for area youth to express themselves, engage in important issues and experience personal and social transformation through the arts.

The program educates and fosters artistic expression, leadership, and social skills through music, dance, creative writing and visual arts.

Breathe is a constructive creative outlet that encourages teamwork; teaches communication and problem solving skills, which are essential in becoming responsible citizens.

Artistic talent or experience is not required to participate in the program. Students merely need positive attitudes, open minds and a willingness to learn.

For more information or to register, visit lightofchance.org. Prospective participants may also register at the Light of Chance offices inside the Rosenwald-Smith Center.

For additional information, contact Light of Chance at (270) 875-4332.
