GPD Reminds Citizens About Yard Sale Signs

Greenville police deptGREENVILLE, Ky. (6/2/14) — Greenville Police Department would like remind the citizens of Greenville about laws relating to yard sale signs.

In the past, yard sale signs have been posted on street signs and utility poles.

This creates a problem for motorists traveling in the city. The yard sale signs may obstruct a driver's view at intersections or interfere with important traffic regulations such as stop signs and speed limit signs. Signs posted in this manner are also in violation of Kentucky Revised Statute 512.080.

GPD encourages citizens to advertise yard sales with signs posted on the ground (example- signs with wire frames) or postings in the local media. Please do not post signs on other property without the owner's permission. Citizens are also urged to remove their signs after the yard sale is over. Any signs found in violation will be removed and violators will be cited under KRS 512.080.

If you have any questions regarding this matter, please contact Greenville Police Department at (270) 338-3133.
