Rowe Completes Junior Session at GSB-LSU

First-KY-Bank-005Dean RoweMUHLENBERG COUNTY, Ky. (6/16/14) — Dean Rowe, Pennyrile Region Market Executive of First Kentucky Bank, was among 564 bankers who took part in the 65th annual two-week session of the Graduate School of Banking at Louisiana State University.

Classes got underway May 25 and were dismissed June 6, 2014, with courses covering all aspects of banking, economics and related subjects. Students traveled from 20 states and Mexico to participate in the session.

Sponsored by 15 southern state bankers associations, including the Kentucky Bankers Association, in cooperation with the Division of Continuing Education at LSU, the banking school requires attendance on campus for three years with extensive bank study assignments between sessions. The faculty consists of bankers, business and professional leaders, and educators from throughout the United States.

During their three years at the Graduate School of Banking, students receive 180 hours of classroom instruction, 30 hours of reviews, planned evening study, and written final examinations at the end of each session.

Rowe was one of just nine students in the class recognized for distinction for their work on class projects between their Freshman and Junior years. The projects required extensive study and report preparation in Basic Credit Analysis, Monetary Economics, Strategic Bank Marketing, Credit Risk Management, and Asset/Liability Management.

Jana Manley of Hancock Bank in Gulfport, Mississippi, was the lone junior to earn straight A's for her study projects, while Rowe, Thomas Coleman (Southern States Bank, Anniston, Ala.), Jennifer Fradella (Hancock Bank, Metairie, La.), Susan Grice (Hancock Bank, Gulfport, Miss.), Christopher Guethle (First Midwest Bank, Dexter, Mo.), Justin Hof (CB&S Bank, Russellville, Ala.), Matt Robertson (Commercial Bank, Harrogate, Tenn.) and William Waughtel (Southern Bank, Manteo, N.C.) earned all A's with one B.

Rowe is on track to graduate from the Graduate School of Banking at LSU in 2015. He is a 1984 graduate of Muhlenberg Central High School and a 1989 graduate of Murray State University. Rowe began his banking career in 1992 at First State Bank in Greenville and has been an officer with First Kentucky Bank since 2001.

Rowe and his wife Tina (Jarvis) have two children, Ethan, 12 and Jasmine, 6.
