Daviess County Sheriff’s Department Welcomes Combat Veteran to the Force

ludke 300OWENSBORO, Ky. (7/18/13) -- Deputy Jason Luedke graduated from the Kentucky Department of Criminal Justice Training Academy on Friday, July 12, and is now the newest member of the Daviess County Sheriff’s Department.

Deputy Luedke grew up in Owensboro, where he graduated from Owensboro High School in 2002. After high school, he joined the Marines and proudly served for 4 years. He was deployed to Iraq and returned home in 2006.

Luedke attended Owensboro Technical College for Criminal Justice and is working toward earning a bachelor’s degree in History with a minor in Criminal Justice from Western Kentucky University in Owensboro.

Luedke says he enjoys Owensboro and can’t see himself anywhere else. He knew as far back as high school that he wanted to work for the Daviess County Sheriff’s Office.

“My first time meeting a deputy was David Osborne in high school,” Deputy Luedke said. “He was shot and injured in the 80s and when he talked about his experience, I knew right then I wanted to pursue law enforcement.”

Luedke will be closely supervised by other officers in an unspecified training period, but said he is ready to get on the road on his own.

“I’m excited to meet people, solve problems, and help people,” Luedke said.
