New CVB Executive Director Settling in

CVB 300OWENSBORO, Ky. (10/11/13) – After about a month on the job as the new executive director of the local Convention and Visitors Bureau in downtown Owensboro, Shannon Wetzel said she is glad to be able to return to her roots at a time when those roots are getting stronger.

Wetzel told SurfKY News she found a posting of the job online and decided to apply for the position while working in marketing with a business planning agency based in Nashville, Tenn. She said there were several elements of the opportunity that attracted her to it, including the “excitement about being part of revitalization and being a part of the community.”

Wetzel said in her time so far, she’s spent a majority of it meeting people in the community and learning more about how the different organizations work together “for the common good.”
