Outdoors with Big Country – Archery Season is Near

RANDY ARCHKENTUCKY (8/23/13) – With the dog days of August here, local outdoorsmen might just be considering building an Ark instead of a deer stand for Archery season.

 
The weather has been much more mile and wet than usual for this season. On that note, Archery season officially opens up on September 7, and with this Saturday’s Deer Classic coming up on Saturday in Muhlenberg County, the excitement and enthusiasm is growing each day.
 
In preparation for the 2013 fall deer season, get your bow in hand and go target shooting as often as possible. You might think you’re the most accurate bow hunter in Kentucky, but practice makes perfect when that big buck approaches your stand site.
 
This Saturday, at the Deer Classic, there will be a 3-D Archery Shoot. If you are a local bow hunter and are interested in participating, you may enter the contest at the front gate of the Ag Center in Powderly, and be sure to arrive by 8:00. Doors open at that time for the largest outdoor show in the state of Kentucky.
 
The main attraction this year will be over 100 exhibitor booths of hunting products featuring camo, calls, decoys, stands, blinds and several other accessories. The famous Harold Knight of the television show “Ultimate Hunting” will be present and will host a seminar at approximately 11:00 AM.
 
Don Bell of “Code Blue” will also be present and will give a very informative deer lure seminar.
 
A local outdoors group that is gathering fame at a fast pace, Kentucky Redneck Outdoors, will also be present and doing a fundraiser with half of proceeds in a giveaway drawing going to a local child, Tyler Foster, and his family fighting cancer.
 
There is so much information regarding the deer classic that I cannot possibly fit it all in one article. Your best bet will be to just come by and check it out on Saturday. Bring friends, family, and fellow outdoorsmen.
 
The Kentucky Deer Classic is the ultimate starter for this hunting season coming up.
 
During this hunting season, make safety your priority. I truly hope you all have a great hunting expedition this year.
