Spring girl tulipsMADISONVILLE, Ky. (3/20/14) — Finally.

Finally it is the season of short-shorts, beer with your baseball game, and stopping to smell the blooming flowers.

You've got the fever, and it has nothing to do with seasonal allergies.

Spring fever is actually a recognized psychological disorder that happens when the temperatures reaches the year's high, and sunshine isn't just a wish, it's a reality.

You could be experiencing spring fever if:

  • You are easily distracted/less productive: You catch yourself staring out the window while work continues to pile up on your desk.

  • You're needing less sleep: As the days begin to lengthen, you feel like you would rather be outside doing things instead of sleeping.

  • You're feeling happier: Melatonin lowers in the colder months, and serotonin rises in the spring, causing optimistic feelings relating to the weather and life.

  • You're more likely to feel like you need to exercise: Sunshine peeking through the blinds brings the energy to get off the couch and shed those winter pounds.

On the other hand, there are many people that can experience Seasonal Affective Disorder in the springtime.

The changing of the seasons can affect everyone differently, making some feel like many days have passed and time has been wasted.

Whether spring fills you with regret or warms your heart, it's here for three whole months.

Three months that can be filled with new beginnings and improving yourself.

How do you plan to adjust with the change of season?
