Madisonville Post Trooper Receives Governor's Award

(12/4/13) - A Muhlenberg native and trooper with the KSP Madisonville post is among those honored during the 2013 Governor's Impaired Driving Enforcement Awards ceremony Tuesday, Dec. 3 at the Marriott Louisville East. The Kentucky Office of Highway Safety honored 206 law enforcement officers from 174 agencies across the Commonwealth for their efforts to target impaired drivers.

Last year, Kentucky recorded more than 5,750 alcohol-related crashes, resulting in 146 deaths and more than 3,000 injuries. According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, one in three Americans will be impacted by a drunken driving crash in their lifetime.

Trooper Jonathan McGehee, from KSP Post 2 Madisonville, was recognized at this ceremony for his outstanding job performance to remove impaired drivers from our roads. For the enforcement period, which ran from October 1, 2012 through September 30, 2013, McGehee arrested 77 impaired drivers.

"I am proud of Trooper McGehee for the outstanding job he has done for our post, our agency, and for the communities we serve. His efforts to make Kentucky's roadways safer are an example of excellence we should all strive to achieve," said Capt. Bobby D. Murray.

McGehee is a native of Bremen, Ky. He graduated from Muhlenberg North High School in 2004 and began his career with the KSP in April, 2010. He is currently assigned to Muhlenberg County.
