Family Member Gives Condition Updates on Watsons

1623645 10202002061026809 1828733558 nNASHVILLE, Tn. (2/4/14) — Speaking with SurfKY News from Vanderbilt University this afternoon, Rev. Adam Brown, the first cousin of Chad Watson, one of two survivors of the tragic fire that took the lives of 9 family members, spoke with SurfKY News from Vanderbilt Hospital Tuesday afternoon.

Rev. Brown, pastor of Temple Baptist Church in Central City, noted that Mr. Watson is still in critical condition.

"However Chad is making improvements." Brown said. "Over the past 36 hours he has made some bigger steps, compared to the minor progress he had been making. He's' still not out of the woods but he is doing better." Brown said.

Brown noted that Kylie was making major positive improvements Tuesday afternoon.

"They have just taken out the ventilator a few minutes ago." Brown said. "To my understanding, Kylie is now breathing on her own. It looks like we can expect her to make a good recovery. She is doing better physically, However both Chad and Kylie are officially in critical condition." Brown said.

Brown said he would consider Kylie to be in critical condition, but improving.

"Chad is still in very critical condition. However as far as making at least some progress in the right direction, he is moving in the right direction." Brown said.

Brown added that a member of management for the group The Band Perry, had just arrived at the hospital to meet with the Watson family and other relatives.

Brown said she did not wish to be identified at this time.

"She just wanted to come by and meet the family in order to put a face with the voices she has been speaking with." Brown said. "She has been more than gracious."

After hearing about the tragic fire, The Band Perry volunteered to pay all funeral and burial costs for the nine members of the Watson family who perished in last Thursday's early morning house fire.

"We can't say how much we appreciate The Band Perry for doing this for the family." Brown said.
