cadiz police arrest3 300CADIZ, Ky. (5/21/13) – Cadiz Police have made two arrests stemming from a traffic stop May 20, 2013 at 9:34 a.m. on Main Street.
Sgt. Richard Martin initiated a traffic stop after a vehicle leaving Main Street Liquors pulled out in front of him, almost striking his cruiser.
Sgt. Richard Martin and Officer Roger Knight were conducting a roadside investigation and questioned a passenger, Emilee B. Frederick, 22, of 60 West End Street, Cadiz. Police found her in possession of a glass jar containing marijuana and cash. She was arrested and charged with Trafficking in Marijuana less than eight ounces.
Police questioned a second passenger, Robert W. Sholar, 24, of 254 Riverview Trail, of Cadiz. Sholar appeared intoxicated and refused to cooperate with police. When Officer Knight attempted to arrest Sholar, he fled on foot. During the chase, Sgt. Martin suffered a leg injury. He was taken to Trigg County Hospital for treatment and later released.
Cadiz Police, with assistance from the Trigg County Sheriff’s Office, Kentucky State Police, and the Hopkinsville Police Department K-9 unit, searched the area for Sholar, but did not locate him.
At 10:30 a.m. on May 21, 2013, Sholar turned himself in at the Trigg County Sheriff’s Office. Cadiz Police served him with an arrest warrant charging him with felony Fleeing/Evading – 1st Degree. Other charges, to include Wanton Endangerment – 2nd Degree; Alcohol Intoxication; Resisting Arrest; and Criminal Trespass, will be levied against Sholar once he is served another warrant.
The driver of the vehicle cooperated with police and was not charged.
The Cadiz Police Department would like to thank the numerous departments that assisted and offered assistance with this arrest.
