Goodnight Sentenced to Life in Murder Case

goodnight murderHOPKINS COUNTY, Ky. (4/11/13) – SurfKY News has just received information stating that Eddie Goodnight has pled guilty to a life imprisonment sentence in a Hopkins County murder case this morning, April 11, 2013.

Goodnight was charged with the murders of his aunt and uncle, Mary and Lynn Moore, in Dawson Springs in 2009.

The bodies of the victims in this case were found on October 30, 2009, by Hopkins County Sheriff’s Department officials. Shortly thereafter, Commonwealth Attorney David Massamore told SurfKY Reporters that, “Law enforcement was able to find one of the missing guns and traced it back to a man named Eddie Goodnight. At that time, the police did not know if Goodnight was involved in this in any manner other than the fact that he had sold something reportedly stolen from the home where the murders occurred.”

Further investigation into the case inevitably led to the arrest and charging of Goodnight, as well as the identification of another suspect in the case, Dustin McKinney. As of this time, McKinney has pled not guilty in the case.

SurfKY News will be speaking to local officials regarding this case and providing further information.
