Mortis Appointed to GRADD Regional Health Council Coordinator Position

meganOWENSBORO, Ky. (7/15/13) - Megan Mortis was named Green River Regional Health Council Coordinator for the Green River Area Development District (GRADD) on Mon. July 8.

Mortis received her undergraduate education in Communications and obtained a Masters degree in Public Administration, both from the University of Southern Indiana.

“I’m really excited to put my education to good use,” Mortis said.

Mortis previously worked for the Alzheimer’s Association, Saint Anthony’s Hospice in Henderson, and Habitat for Humanity. In January, she was appointed to the State Commission of Kentucky’s Community Service and Volunteerism board.

As the Health Council Coordinator, Mortis will be working with the health coalitions of the seven surrounding counties to address health issues, create strategic planning, and doing advocacy work with local and state governments.

“I’m really looking forward to working with local government,” Mortis said. “We will be addressing the needs of the community, and will try to improve the health of the people in the area.”

Mortis is proactive about her plans as Coordinator.

“I’m really excited to start this position,” Mortis said. “I can’t wait to address the health issues in the region and promote a healthy community.”
