Ag Commissioner to Attend Farmer’s Market Grand Opening

james comerOWENSBORO, Ky. (8/26/13) – Agriculture Commissioner James Comer will attend the grand opening of a new “locally produced” farmer’s market, Rosemary Conder told SurfKY News recently.

In an email, Conder stated she and market owner Maria Kelly attended a meeting with Comer and other state officials in Frankfort at their invitation on Aug. 8.

“The meeting was an introduction and explanation of the exciting concept for Nona's Downtown Kentucky Proud Market,” Conder said.

The 2,500 square-feet facility will be located at the corner of Second and Ann streets, and more than 90 percent of its inventory will consist of “Kentucky Proud” products, Conder said.

“This will include locally produced products as well as items from across the Commonwealth. Nona's will feature local farmer's market produce, meats, dairy, jams, jellies, honey, carry-out food items, gifts, crafts, art, and everyday necessities for Downtown residents and employees,” she added. “Commissioner Comer pledged his office support and will visit Nona's Grand Opening planned for December.”
