Owensboro Board of Commissioners Approve Several Ordinances

owensboro ky1 300OWENSBORO, Ky. (11/20/13) - The Owensboro Board of Commissioners approved an ordinance at its regular meeting Tuesday night for an annexation for a property containing 9.717 acres at Hobo Estates Subdivision.

The property located on Lafayette Drive between J.R. Miller Boulevard and Jefferson Street and is a single-family residential property. JED Rentals, LLC has submitted a site plan that was approved by the Owensboro Metropolitan Planning Commission, and the city has agreed on an annexation incentive agreement.

Another ordinance was passed providing the creation and sale of a franchise for the privilege of distributing and selling electricity on, above, along and below public right-of-way within the city. The ordinance detailed terms and conditions relative to the construction, operation, maintenance and repair of the electrical distribution system and franchisee’s responsibilities while using the city’s public right-of-way and infrastructure to provide electric power and energy to the citizens of Owensboro.

An ordinance was passed to amend the annual budget to appropriate funds to repair the HVAC unit at the Owensboro Museum of Science and History.

A municipal order was passed authorizing an execution of a memorandum of agreement with JR Acquisitions, LLC, for an annexation of 6.443 acres located at Summer Valley Lane, in Hunters Ridge Subdivision. A first reading of an ordinance was also read for the City of Owensboro to annex the property.

An ordinance was read for the first time to amend the alcohol licenses currently administered by the city. The Kentucky General Assembly passed Senate Bill 13, which requires changes in the license agreement , and three new license categories were added to the ordinance.

Unique Granite and Marble, Inc. requested that the Board of Commissioners approve an ordinance, which was read for the first time, in support of the City’s participation in the Kentucky Business Investment Program to provide incentives, to expand and improve operations in Owensboro, specifically for new employees.

The next Owensboro Board of Commissioners meeting is scheduled for 5 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 3.
