OWENSBORO, Ky. (6/11/14) — On Tuesday, June 10, 2014, at approximately 1:51 p.m., the Owensboro Police Department patrol division was transporting Daviess County Detention Center inmate, Thomas Rapier, from the detention center to the police station for an interview by Owensboro Police Department detectives.
During the transport, Rapier kicked out the rear passenger door window of the police cruiser, and managed to escape on foot.
He was taken back into custody two blocks away and within minutes of his escape.
Rapier was being held on charges unrelated to the OPD investigation.Additional charges from this incident Criminal Mischief Second Degree – Class A Misdemeanor and Escape Second Degree (Identify Facility) – Class D Felony.
