Pennyrile Area Development District Holds 44th Annual Meeting

padd 300HOPKINSVILLE, Ky. (6/11/13) – A crowd of over 500 gathered at the James E. Bruce Convention Center in Hopkinsville, KY on June 10th to celebrate the 44th Annual Dinner Meeting of the Pennyrile Area Development District.  
 
The annual event, sponsored by Planters Bank of Hopkinsville, gives all local officials, legislators, business and civic leaders, and others from throughout the Pennyrile the opportunity to look back on the year’s activities.  
 
PADD presented the W.W. “Bill Bryan Memorial Award to the Southern Pennyrile Chamber Alliance.  The award was to recognize exemplary regional cooperation and efforts to improve the Pennyrile Region.  Special service awards were also presented to Mr. John H. Carner of Lyon County and Mr. Kenneth Guinn of Trigg County in recognition of their outstanding contributions and 20 years of dedicated service to the PADD Loan Fund Committee.
 
In other business, Board Members Mayor Jenny Sewell - City of Dawson Springs and Judge Executive Brock Thomas – Caldwell County were recognized for five years of service to the PADD Board of Directors.   Board Members Gary Jones, Citizen Member of Muhlenberg County, Judge Executive Chris Lasher – Livingston County, and Mayor Lee McCollum – City of Kuttawa were recognized for 10 years of service to the PADD Board of Directors.  In addition, several citizen members were reappointed to serve for three year terms from throughout the region including: Bernard Standard (Christian County); Mayor Frank Stafford (Hopkins County); Charles Cooper (Livingston County); and Gary Jones (Muhlenberg County).
 
In presenting the Annual Report, Executive Director Chris Sutton thanked all those who contributed to the mission of PADD and stated that the Area Development Districts’ goals of regionalism, sound planning, efficient coordination of programs, and support to local government are more important now than they were 44 years ago.
 
Mark Klein “Corp Jester” and Pianist Ron Creager provided entertainment for the evening.
 
The PADD consists of the nine county area of: Caldwell, Christian, Crittenden, Hopkins, Livingston, Lyon, Muhlenberg, Todd and Trigg.  The 39 member Board of Directors is currently chaired by Princeton Mayor, Gale Cherry.
