Night Circus Gala Raises Funds for the Lexington Public Library

gala 300LEXINGTON, Ky. (4/23/2013) – The Night Circus Gala unwrapped in Lexington on Saturday, April 20. Sponsored by the Lexington Public Library Foundation, the Gala featured costume contests, tarot card readings, fire acts, magic shows, and much more.

Inspired by the bestselling novel, The Night Circus by Erin Morgenstern, the Gala revealed the growing popularity of the Steampunk subculture in the Bluegrass region.

Steampunk is a literary sub-genre of science fiction and fantasy that typically features steam-powered technology in a Victorian setting. Typical Steampunk fashion has a Victorian look and feel that is often embellished with hardware or technology that might have been conceived by the Victorian mind. Think corsets and inventor goggles.

The Night Circus Gala was a huge success with over 600 people in attendance. The annual fundraising event benefits the Lexington Public Library Foundation and One Book One Bluegrass.
