Fayette County Public Schools Adds New Locations to Free Summer Lunch Program

FAYETTE CO pub school 300LEXINGTON, Ky. (6/11/13) – The Child Nutrition division of Fayette County Public Schools is participating in the federal 2013 Summer Food Service Program, which helps fill the nutrition gap when school is out to make sure children age 18 and younger receive the healthy meals they need. Meals are provided to all children without charge and are the same regardless of race, color, national origin, sex, age or disability; there is no discrimination in the course of the meal service.

Schedule (updated June 11)

Note: No meals will be available on Thursday July 4.

FCPS also serves meals at two closed sites, which are reserved for children participating in summer programs there. To be eligible for free meals at a residential or non-residential camp, children must meet the income guidelines for reduced-price meals in the National School Lunch Program. Children are automatically eligible if their households receive Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program benefits (SNAP, formerly foods stamps), benefits under the Food Distribution Program on Indian Reservations (FDPIR) or Temporary Assistance to Needy Families (TANF).

Program acceptance and participation requirements are the same for all children regardless of race, color, national origin, sex, age or disability, and there is no discrimination in the meal service.
