Tates Creek Student Named International Young Achiever of the Year

laurenLEXINGTON, Ky. (7/23/13) – Lauren Bolt, a rising freshman at Tates Creek High School, recently was named a 2013 International Young Achiever of the Year. She and two other winners from Illinois and Canada each received a certificate and a check for $500 from the International Leadership Network (ILN). They were among 28 outstanding students honored as 2013 Young Achievers, along with Dylan Benton of Booker T. Washington Academy, Robrina Rodger of Arlington Elementary and Mahin Zaman of Morton Middle School.

Nominated by a teacher at Tates Creek Middle School, Lauren was subsequently selected as a schoolwide winner this past spring. A local committee then submitted her name for ILN consideration. The International Leadership Network is a nonprofit that aims to empower young people to succeed. Its Young Achievers program recognizes students who are positive role models, competent scholars and good citizens. Lauren, Dylan, Robrina and Mahin were among the fifth- and eighth-grade honorees for 2012-2013 in Fayette County Public Schools.

Lauren will continue in the International Baccalaureate Programme as well as the school choir this fall at Tates Creek High. She has made the Honor Roll since fourth grade, competed in the District Science Fair and served as a student page in the Kentucky Legislature for four consecutive years. She received a Girl Scouts Bronze Award for her support of the Lexington Humane Society and has won several awards at area horse shows. Lauren hopes to attend Asbury University and pursue a double major in Equine Management and Psychology.
