This Wedding Season Say ‘I Do’ to a Wedding Planner

wedding2 500

LEXINGTON, Ky. (7/26/13)—We are in the midst of wedding season and brides-to-be in Lexington have a lot on their minds. Trying to plan the perfect wedding day can be a lot of work for a couple, and the last thing they should be doing is worrying. Wedding planners Rayna Wallen from Always Planned and Deanna Dillender from Great Expectations offered advice to couples planning their big day.Wallen has been a wedding planner and designer for six years in Lexington and has had experience with many different kinds of weddings.

“Everyone’s personality is different which affects the way that they envision their wedding day,” Wallen said. “We work with them to find their vision and then bring that vision to life.”

Dillender has been a wedding planner in Lexington for 15 years and has helped her clients have their dream wedding.

“Whether they want an outdoor, indoor or church wedding, my job is to sit down and find out exactly what it is that they have in mind,” Dillender said. “Everyone has their own budget.”

Since there are so many different budgets that they deal with while planning a wedding, Great Expectations has set up three different packages:

Full-Scale Package consists of holding their hand through the entire process, from the engagement until “I Do.”

The Middle Of The Road Package is when they start help planning the wedding half way through, which is a good choice for the bride and groom that know pretty much what they are looking for.

The last package is the Day Of Package. Which is when they need a little less help planning, and come on board the month prior.

“The Day Of package is basically what I like to refer to as syncing brains,” Dillender said. “We sit down with them, talk through their day and come up with things that may need to be addressed or add something that may have been forgotten.”

Finding a venue is one of the most important parts of a wedding. Dillender said that in order to have a wedding at one of the more popular places in Lexington, it should be booked 9 to 18 months in advance.

Popular venues in Lexington include, Keeneland, The Marriot, The Carrick House, The Signature Club, The Boone Center on UK Campus, the Ashley Inn, and private horse farms.

Most wedding planners have the option to provide the flowers and décor for the wedding, however there are some clients that have a family florist or someone else in mind. Sherwood Designs and Doug Smith Designs in Lexington are popular wedding florists.

“After all is said and done everyone is thankful to have a wedding planner by their side, “ Dillender said. “The last thing the bride and groom should be worrying about is how many wine glasses to set out or what time dinner is going to be served.”

If the date is set to say “I Do,” leave the rest to a wedding planner. For more information call Great Expectations at (859) 576-3406, or Always Planned at (859) 619-1841.
