Marshall County Men Charged with Unlawful Transaction with Minor

arrest2 green 300MARSHALL COUNTY, Ky. (7/29/13) – On Friday July 26, 2013 Kentucky State Police Detective Cory Jessup arrested 32 year-old Robert L. Byars, and 36 year-old Theodore F. Byars, both of Benton, Ky.

Both men were charged with one count of unlawful transaction with a minor 3rd degree (Class A Misdemeanor).

The arrests stems from an ongoing investigation of Robert Byars, in which Byars was charged with various crimes involving a juvenile. Robert has remained incarcerated at the Marshall County Detention Center since his arrest on July 1, 2013.

The investigation has revealed that Robert was passing letters to his brother Theodore Byars, who was giving them to a juvenile. The letters were sexually explicit and were asking the juvenile to meet with him after his release, which would cause the juvenile to disobey her parents.

Robert and Theodore are lodged at the Marshall County Detention Center. The investigation continues by Detective Cory Jessup.
