‘Tis The Season; West Sixth Introduces Their First Christmas Ale

christmas ale 300LEXINGTON, Ky (11/20/13)—Right now West Sixth Brewery is canning their first Christmas Ale so it will hit the shelves by December. The dark ale is spiced with cinnamon, ginger, nutmeg and all of your favorite holiday spices and weighs in at 9 percent ABV.

“We are excited and can’t wait for everyone to try the unique taste,” Ben Self, one of the owners of West Sixth said, “the warming effect while drinking it is perfect for cold, winter nights.”

The beer will be released at 3 p.m. on Dec. 2, but Self encourages the community to come in before 3 to enjoy a beer and wait for the releasing of the Christmas Ale. Since there are only 500 to 600 cases being produced, he believes it may go fast.

“I think it’s going to go great,” Self said, “we have such fantastic folks that support us around the city and state and they always surprise me.”

It’s West Sixth’s first Christmas Ale that they have distributed in cans and the first ever Christmas Ale to be canned and distributed in Kentucky. The beer is priced at $13.99 a six pack and will be sold on draft and in cans that day in the taproom of West Sixth Brewery and in limited quantities at retailers in Kentucky.

“If everyone likes it and we have positive feedback it is definitely something we plan on doing again next year,” Self said, “I think it will be just what everyone needs this holiday season.”

West Sixth is located at 501 West Sixth Street. For more information call 859-951-6006.
