Dillard’s Gives Back to Breast Cancer Research

dillards giveback 300LEXINGTON, Ky. (11/21/13) — After being closed for remodeling, Dillard’s at the Fayette Mall will reopen this Saturday with a “giving back to the community” theme.

“We are excited about reopening but we wanted to focus on something a lot bigger than ourselves,” said Gil Espinosa, Dillard’s manager. “Breast cancer is a horrible disease that affects so many including some of my employees and managers.”

At 8:30 a.m., Breast Cancer Research Foundation Manager Myra Biblowit will be speaking. Espinosa said that approximately 1,300 tickets have already been sold to people eager to hear her speak. Directly following her speech, Dillard’s will be donating 10 percent of every purchase to the Breast Cancer Research Foundation from 10 a.m. To 9 p.m.

“We really wanted to do something to commit ourselves to the community, give something back and do something that would be meaningful to Lexingtonians and those in the surrounding area,” said Espinosa. “We have a huge goal and we are being very ambitious. We want to cut an enormous check to the Breast Cancer Research Foundation.”

According to the American Cancer Society, 200,000 American women are diagnosed with breast cancer every year.

“Dillard’s has been in partnership with the Breast Cancer Research Foundation since 1988,” Espinosa said. “We have continued to be part of this program because they are dedicated to what they do. Ninety-one cents out of every dollar they make goes directly to research.”
