Stoops Reviews Five New 2014 Recruiting Commitments

stoops announce 300LEXINGTON, Ky. (11/26/13) – University of Kentucky's football season will soon come to a close, but head coach Mark Stoops is busier than ever.

Stoops announced Monday the early signings of five 2014 recruiting commitments during the revealing of planned renovations for UK's Commonwealth Stadium.

Here's a list of the five commitments:

•Linebacker Dorian Hendrix of Huber Heights, Ohio – “He was my first commit in this 2014 class,” said Stoops. “..a very good football player.”
•Running back Mikel Horton of West Chester, Ohio – “Unbelievable player,” said Stoops. “Big, physical running back. He's the whole package. He's got agility. He's got strength, and he's got the size that we need to compete in this league.”
•Wide receiver Thaddeus Snodgrass of Springfield, Ohio – “He's a big, strong wide receiver,” said Stoops. “Great player. Great in the classroom. We're excited about Thaddeus.”
•Wide receiver T.V. Williams of Dallas, Texas – “It's good to branch out and get into the Dallas area and sign a player from there,” said Stoops. “T.V. is a very electric guy. He's an inside receiver. Very excited about T.V.”
•Quarterback Drew Barker of Hebron, Ky. – “A guy that's very important to us and to this program because he's one of the best players in the state and we all know how important it is to lock down your own state and to start the recruiting within your state,” said Stoops. “This guy has been rock solid. He's a tremendous leader. He's a heck of a player. He's a national recruit. He's an Elite 11 quarterback and he's tough as nails. But, the thing I love about him most is his leadership.”

Stoops said he's excited about the future and promises a whole slew of recruits that will join these five in January or September.

“As I've said before, when we're going to build this program, it starts with guys like that. That's a great five guys that we're able to touch on right now that are going to enroll in January,” said Stoops.

The season finale for UK football will be Saturday, Nov. 30 with a game against Tennessee. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m.
