LEXINGTON, Ky. (12/5/13) – Lexington’s road crews are planning to come in early Friday morning to meet whatever challenges the weather presents.
Crews from the Division of Streets and Roads will be coming on duty at 4 a.m. Friday and will start “an around-the-clock process,” said Albert Miller, acting director of Streets and Roads.
Miller said he based the decision to bring his employees in early on a forecast that calls for snow in Lexington at 4 a.m. Friday. They will join the night crew that comes on at midnight. Miller added the crews will plan to work the weekend, “if the weather conditions merit that.”
“We’ll reassess that as it gets closer,” he said. “This one has been a real tough one to call.”
The National Weather Service has issued a winter storm watch for the Lexington area from 12 a.m. EST Friday to 7 a.m. EST Saturday. Lexington could see 1-3 inches of snow and light ice accumulations, according to the forecast.
