Ashland Takes Top Spots in Countywide History Fair Competition

FAYETTE CO pub school 300LEXINGTON, Ky. (4/16/14) — Forty students from a dozen elementary schools competed in the annual Edward T. Houlihan III Fayette County History Fair, sponsored by the Lexington History Museum.

Katelyn Rowell of Ashland Elementary took first place honors with her project “Lincoln Assassination,” and Beppy Badgett of Ashland was runner up with the “Cuban Missile Crisis.” Third place went to Lindy Fischer of Dixie Magnet Elementary with the “Gold Rush.”

All the students qualified through their school level fairs to compete at the countywide event April 12 at The Lyric Theatre & Cultural Arts Center. “Every single one of the participants did a fabulous job. Picking a winner this year was very difficult,” said museum director Debra Watkins.
