UK Football Uses the Bye-Week to Keep Getting Better

LEXINGTON, Ky. (9/16/13)—On Saturday the UK Football team took a loss against Louisville 27-13. Maxwell Smith re-injured his shoulder and six receivers dropped a total of eight passes during the rivalry game. Kentucky’s open week is coming at the perfect time for the Wildcats to get back into shape for the next three games against Florida, South Carolina and Alabama.“We are a little banged up, but most of the teams in the country are,” Head Coach, Mark Stoops said. “We are going to continue to practice and get healthy this week and take advantage of our open weekend to get back to full health.”

While Stoops gives credit to Louisville for their game plays and team effort, he thinks that his own team played better than they ever have before.

“I felt like we had a good plan and I felt like our guys were starting to play more aggressive,” said Stoops. ”We had a few wrinkles here and there, but overall I am happy with the effort that our team took to the field on Saturday.”

During this week Stoops plans on practicing and watching film of the teams that they will be playing after this week off.

“I think there are a lot of things that we need to clean up and by watching the film and going over plays we can figure out what we need to change and do different,” he said. “I’m obviously disappointed with the loss but I’m not discouraged with the players.”

The next UK Football game will be September 28 at Commonwealth Stadium against the Florida Gators. Time TBA.
