God’s Great Outdoor Adventures – Time to Take a Kid Fishing

girl fish lomanKENTUCKY (6/5/13) – Hello again folks! I hope you are having a blessed day. The weather we have had has been beautiful. Yes, we have had some rain, but the days are awesome for taking a kid fishing.

The great thing about fishing is that it costs very little. Another great thing is that there are so many places that the public can go fishing.

Some folks choose to dig their own worms, while others find it easier to just run by the local bait shop.

Every kid should try fishing at least once. No, it doesn’t have to be a competition, but should just be family fun. If you would like to take your kids fishing, but don’t know where to start, let me give you some pointers.

Every little kid wants to get a SpongeBob or Spiderman rod and reel. They are nice to look at, but not very well geared for fishing. My advice would be to go ahead and purchase a Zebco 202. These combos are very effective for catching fish.

Back years ago, the ultimate choice was the Zebco 33. These, unfortunately, are not made like they were way back when. If you can get your hands on one of the older ones, you should buy it. The gears and all in the older 33 models are much stronger than they are today, in my opinion.

The next issue is the location. Where should you take your kid fishing? I would start out at local lakes, such as lakes owned by the cities that allow fishing. These lakes are also governed by city laws and state laws. Make sure you know these laws before you fish. Most of these laws effect creel limits. Just for instance, with Largemouth Bass the state says the creel limit is five fish. The local law may have a two-fish creel limit on that particular body of water.

So, all that said, grab your fishing gear, your license, and head on out to take your kid fishing.

Until next week, God Bless and be safe!
