UK Track and Field Adds Jasmine Quinn to Signing Class

UK TrackField 300LEXINGTON, Ky. (4/15/14) — Jasmine Quinn, who has established herself as one of the nation’s top hurdlers, signed a national letter of intent to attend the University of Kentucky and compete in track and field Monday.

Quinn will join UK’s accomplished corps of hurdlers with credentials as one of the nation’s elite prep competitors. Quinn owns an all conditions personal best time in the 100-meter hurdles of 13.33 which is the fastest raw time in the nation amongst high school hurdlers. Her wind-legal best 13.55 ranks No. 2 nationally.

As a high school junior at Fort Dorchester High School in North Charleston, Quinn won four state outdoor titles at the 2013 South Carolina Championships.

In addition to the 100m hurdles in which she set the state record, Quinn claimed the state crown in the long jump, 100m and 200m. For her efforts at the 2013 State Championships, Quinn earned The (Charleston) Post and Courier’s high school track female performer of the year award.

Quinn also qualified for 2013 New Balance Nationals, where she earned All-American honors with a sixth place finish in the finals.

Quinn finished 2013 as the No. 12 long jumper in the nation with a PR mark 5.98m / 19'7.5". She also owns a 100m PR of 11.90, a time which finished 2013 season as the No. 75 time in the nation.

Quinn's brother, Robert, is a defensive end for the St. Louis Rams who was 2013 PFWA Defensive Player of the Year, First Team All-Pro and a team captain at the 2014 Pro Bowl.

Quinn is the 12th addition to the UK track and field program for the 2015 season.

The incoming class of 12 is highlighted by two high school national championships (one runner, Ariah Graham, won both), in addition to six prep National Championship qualifiers.

With the addition of Quinn, seven women and five men compose the signing class.

The group is made up of eight state champions who combined to win a total of 24 state titles. Nine states are represented within the incoming class (Arizona, Georgia, Indiana, Kentucky, New Jersey, North Carolina, Ohio, South Carolina and Virginia).

Three of the current crop of signees (Quinn, Adriana Brown and Ariah Graham), have produced marks/times which either lead the nation currently or finished a previous season ranked No. 1 in America among high-school competitors.

The signees have combined to post nine marks/times, which rank in the top 10 in the nation amongst preps.
