uk trackb 300LEXINGTON, Ky. (4/18/14) — Kentucky will host the first of two meets on its home track this season, the Kentucky Relays, Saturday at the UK Outdoor Track and Field Complex.

The meet, which has not been held since the early 90s, will serve as a sort of dress rehearsal for the 2014 Southeastern Conference Championships. The SEC Outdoor Meet has not been contested in Lexington since 1996.

Kentucky’s sixth ranked women’s team and 25th-ranked men’s team will be on full display for the Big Blue Nation Saturday.

Headlining for the Wildcats will be Dezerea Bryant who will compete in front of a home crowd for the first time since becoming the first UK’s first NCAA Indoor 200 Meters Champion last month.

Also on display will be a plethora of Wildcat All-Americans and SEC Champions in addition to some of the region’s top collegiate teams.

The 2014 Kentucky Relays will feature a field of 22 collegiate teams including Big 10 squads like the 24th-ranked Illinois men, Michigan, Indiana and Purdue in addition to completive programs the likes of Cincinnati, Louisville, VCU, EKU and Marshall amongst others.

The meet will begin 9 a.m. ET with the first high school field events. The running events will start 9:35 a.m. with the women’s 5,000 meters.

The first collegiate field event of the day will be the men’s javelin at 10:30 a.m., with two time All-American Raymond Dykstra scheduled to compete.

The meet will also include a ceremony honoring the 2014 graduating class of 12 at approximately 4:22 p.m. just before the 4x400m relays. Amongst those being honored will be multi-time SEC Champions Matt Hillenbrand, Cally Macumber, Chelsea Oswald in addition to multi-time All-Americans Andrew Evans, Kayla Parker and Allison Peare.

Tickets are available from the UK Ticket Office for $5 by calling (859) 257-1818.

Spectator parking will be available in the No. 7 Parking Structure across the street from the Nutter Football Training Center. Handicap parking will be located in the northeast corner of the R-3 lot.

The 2014 Kentucky Relays will also promote an increased fan experience, similar to what was on display at the indoor home meets this season, with the addition of a child recreation area with inflatables.
