evangormansurfky 300OWENSBORO, Ky. (9/5/13) - SurfKY News Group welcomed Evan Gorman as the newest member of the Region 3 News Team on Friday.
 
Gorman, a Sturgis native, attended the University of Kentucky and received a Bachelor of Arts in Communication. He was awarded Outstanding Senior by the College of Communication and Information Studies and was on the Dean’s list for three terms. He was also a Interpersonal Communication Teaching Assistant and Multimodal Communication and Consulting Center Tutor.
 
He completed internships in Lexington at the Saint Joseph Hospital Foundation, eCampus, PNC Bank, where he published a series of articles for the PNC national employee webpage. He got his start in news interning at WLEX-LEX 18 News, where he worked as a reporter, producer, and photographer.
 
“I am excited to begin my journalism career at SurfKY,” Gorman said. “I grew up in this region and am a member of this community. It will be my honor to tell the stories that affect us all.”
 
SurfKY Region 3 News Director Dennis Beard said he’s looking forward to expanding coverage into other parts of the bureau’s region now that Gorman is on board.
 
“Evan has been doing a great job coming up with new ideas, and having a second staff reporter will allow us to expand our coverage into neighboring counties such as Henderson, Ohio, and McLean,” Beard said.
