Kentucky Aviation Conference Set for Sept. 10 -12 in Bowling Green

Seal of Kentucky WikComFRANKFORT, Ky. (8/25/14) — The 38th annual Kentucky Aviation Conference and Exhibition is set for Sept. 10-12 in Bowling Green.

The Kentucky Aviation Association, in conjunction with the Kentucky Department of Aviation, annually hosts the event, which brings together aviation professionals from across the state for educational workshops and networking with aviation industries and organizations.

"Airports and the professionals that work around them are vital to Kentucky's economy," said Lisa Wilson-Plajer, Executive Director of the KAA. "Efficient operations and well-prepared aviation professionals help us to compete on a national and global level. This conference brings together the brightest aviation minds in the Commonwealth. We couldn't be more thrilled to help host it for its 38th year."

Guest speakers for this year's conference include David Thompson, of the Kentucky Commission on Military Affairs; Mario Mairena, Association for Unmanned Vehicle Systems International; Dave Fleet, Futron Corp.; Dave Erstfeld, Federal Aviation Administration Southern Region; Jory M. Becker, Kentucky Division of Water Surface Water Permits Branch; and Kim Stevens, National Association of State Aviation Officials.

In addition to educational workshops and networking, the conference will feature presentations of several awards. The Airport Board Member of the Year Award and the Airport Manager of the Year Award, in both the commercial service airport category and general aviation airport category, will be announced.

New this year is the Excellence in Aviation Award honoring the achievements of Henry Ogrodzinski, an advocate for aviation throughout his career with General Motors avionics, the Experimental Aircraft Association, the General Aviation Manufacturers Association and Gulfstream Aerospace.

The KAA and the KDA will also join in recognizing an outstanding aviation-related organization for its contributions in the Commonwealth of Kentucky. The Kentucky Community Service award will be presented to the Kentucky State Police.

The conference is at the Holiday Inn-University Plaza and Sloan Convention Center. Conference, registration and agenda details are at www.aviationkaa.org/conference-1.html.
