Madisonville Resident Arrested for Theft of Thousands of Dollars’ Worth of Guitars

arrest uptonHOPKINS COUNTY, Ky. (4/22/13) – The Sheriff’s Office received a complaint of several guitars stolen from a residence located at Old Hopkinsville Rd. in Nortonville, on February 1, 2013.
 
The victim, Donald Grace of Nortonville, reported that the guitars were very valuable and the estimated cost was near $25,000.00 for the eight guitars stolen.
 
During the investigation, it was discovered that 18-year-old Jacob Upton had sold the eight guitars to Park Ave. Pawn Shop in Madisonville. Six of the guitars were located and recovered from Park Ave., but the other two had already been sold.
 
Upton was brought in and interviewed by Detective Will Coursey and Deputy Crick. During the course of the interview, Upton admitted to unlawfully entering into the residence and taking the guitars, and then selling them to the pawn shop. It was found that he collected $11,050.00 from the pawn shop for the guitars.
 
Upton was charged with the burglary and the items recovered were returned to the victim.
