arrest rolleyGREENVILLE, Ky. (4/19/13) – One man remains in custody after an alleged hit and run accident in Greenville.

Wes Miller, of the Greenville Police Department, told SurfKY News reporters that on April 15th around 7:00 p.m. at the intersection of Main Street and Main Cross at the stoplight by the courthouse, a 1994 Ford Explorer driven by Daniel Rolley was traveling north on Main Street. The other vehicle, a 2006 Equinox, was driven by Christy Pointer. Pointer was traveling west on East Main Cross. The report shows that Pointer had the green light. Rolley's light was red, yet he drove through the intersection and struck Pointer’s vehicle. Miller said the report showed that Rolley then, according to witnesses, drove away from the scene after that.

An off-duty Kentucky State Police officer, Craig Engler, happened to be at the scene and, according to Officer Miller, followed the suspect and caught up with him on Martin Street, next to the jail.

Engler then apprehended the suspect and turned him over to the Greenville Police Department.

One injury was reported, Miller said. Pointer was transported to the Muhlenberg Community Hospital.

Pointer also had two small children with her, but Miller said they were unhurt.

As of Thursday, April 18, 2013, Rolley remained in the Muhlenberg Detention Center, Miller said.

The ongoing investigation into the incident is being handled by the Greenville Police Department.
