God’s Great Outdoor Adventures – Gearing up for the Thunder Chickens

sportsmen turkeysKENTUCKY (3/20/13) – Hello again! I hope you are having a blessed day. We had an awesome trip to the Mountains of east Tennessee. I went trout fishing for a few hours and the weather was great. Now it is time to prepare for those beautiful Toms as they strut their stuff.

Once a year we volunteer our time at the Kids Hunting for a Cure youth turkey hunt. It is held every Spring in Huntington Tennessee. There are over one hundred anxious kids waiting to go harvest a turkey. Each hunt is videoed so that the kids will have something to watch and bring back memories for years to come.

This year is special because they have asked for my son Ethan to hunt. He has never harvested a turkey. He will be guided by one of the many guides. Friday night is registration time and entertainment time.

Saturday will be a long day with hunting beginning early in the morning. To finish the day we will have an auction with all the money going to St. Judes Children's Hospital. Then, on Sunday, we will hunt early and then attend one of the many Churches in the area. It is a blessing to be a part of such a great organization. I can't wait, as we are going to have a blast.

It’s just a couple of weeks until we will be chasing those longbeards of Western KY. Until next week God bless and be safe.
