kentucky-derbyDAWSON SPRINGS, Ky. (4/24/14) — Pennyrile Forest State Resort Park is offering guests a chance to celebrate the Kentucky Derby at the park with a special Derby Weekend Package May 2-4.

The package includes two nights lodging, a continental breakfast Saturday morning, watching the big race on television, a Ladies Derby Luncheon Saturday, Saturday night dinner buffet with music from DJ Kevin Lynn and a dance Saturday evening. A Sunday morning country ham buffet is also included.

The package, sponsored by the Friends of Pennyrile, is $199 plus tax for two people. Golf discounts are also available during the weekend.

The rustic wood and stone Pennyrile Lodge, with 24 rooms, sits serenely on a high cliff overlooking Pennyrile Lake. Open year-round, the park has 12 cottages in the wooded lodge area and on the lake’s shores. The restaurant seats 200, including a private dining room for up to 80. The park also has an 18-hole golf course with a pro shop, riding carts, pull carts and rental clubs. The course is open year-round, weather permitting. The park also offers hiking trails, fishing, basketball, tennis and horse campsites that are available year-round. Call (800) 325-1711 for information and reservations.

The resort is 20 miles northwest of Hopkinsville, on Kentucky 109 North. Pennyrile Forest State Resort Park is approximately 8 miles south of Dawson Springs. Take Exit 92 on Interstate 69.
