job corps 300GREENVILLE, Ky. (10/2/13) – Mr. Oscar Derderian, Regional Coordinator from the Transportation Communications Union (TCU) recently visited the Muhlenberg Job Corps Center. The purpose of his visit was to promote the TCU advanced training, answer student questions, recruit eligible students, and conduct current applicant interviews. Over the past year the Muhlenberg Job Corps Center has transferred more students to TCU programs than any other center in the nation.

Mr. Derderian stated that there is currently a very high need for welders in their Carman program. Successful graduates of this program will be placed in a variety of maintenance jobs on the railroad and can expect to earn at least $18.00 an hour. Some of Muhlenberg Job Corps recent Carman program graduates are earning over $20.00 an hour. Mr. Derderian’s presentation sparked a lot of interest and many of our students are starting the application process to transfer to TCU over the next few months.

Muhlenberg Job Corps is a training program for young adults ages 17-24. They offer training and certifications in Certified Nursing Assistant, Clinical Medical Assistant/Home Health Aide, Pharmacy Technology, Insurance Claims Processing, Heavy Equipment Operator, Construction Equipment Mechanics, Class B Commercial Driver’s License (CDL), and Welding.
