GREENVILLE, Ky. (12/2/13) — Local dignitaries, local veterans and citizens gathered on a windy Kentucky 189 bypass Wednesday, Nov. 27 to dedicate Greenville's Purple Heart sign. The honor symbolizes the sacrifice and dedication of so many of the nation's Purple Heart recipients over the years, and the brave men and women, who made the ultimate sacrifice.
Greenville Mayor Ed DeArmond was on hand to help with the dedication.
DeArmond served during Vietnam, as did many others in the county. DeArmond told the crowd that the sign was dedicated to the many soldiers, who have defended the nation and who continue to do so across the world, in the name of freedom.
