job corp1 300MUHLENBERG COUNTY, Ky. (9/4/13) – Carolyn Mitchell began her employment at the Muhlenberg Job Corps July 18, 2011.

During her tenure she has spent an enormous amount of time teaching and tutoring in math, but she goes above and beyond by also spending a gigantic amount of time tutoring in reading and ASVAB.   She is not a reading teacher at Muhlenberg Job Corps, but she cares about how well her students can read if they have reading deficiencies and tries to organize individual strategies to help develop their reading abilities.

Ms. Mitchell tutors in ASVAB at least one night a week, at a time that is well after the time when most other staff has gone home for the day.  However, this is a time that is fairly convenient for her students.  She does this because she genuinely cares for each of her students’ future as well as our ranking as a Center.  Her efforts have helped the center in areas beyond the academic window.  She does all of this without a complaint of how much she is paid or how much time she is spending on campus.

Ms. Mitchell also collaborates with other teachers and staff on many aspects of her job.  She clearly adheres to the idea that it takes a village to educate a young person.  Muhlenberg Job Corps and Horizons Youth Services is proud to recognize Carolyn Mitchell whose performance is above and beyond the expectations of her position requirements.

Muhlenberg Job Corps is a free career training educational facility for low-income individuals ages 17-24. Individuals can train and earn certifications in Certified Nursing Assistant/Home Health Aid, Insurance Claims Processor, Pharmacy Technology, Clinical Medical Assistant, Heavy Equipment Operator, Construction Equipment Mechanics, Class B – Commercial Driver’s License and Welding.

If you or a family member is interested in the Job Corps program, call for a tour of the campus today (270) 377-3269.
