Central City Community Church Plans Grand Opening and Spring Festival

Brian-and-Jackie-MartinBrian and Jackie Martin (Photo courtesy Brian Martin)CENTRAL CITY, Ky. (4/25/14) — Community Church in Central City will host a grand opening celebration service and free spring festival Sunday, April 27 at 3 p.m.

Brother Brian Martin, a Central City native and pastor of the new church, will host the event at the Central City Convention Center gymnasium.

"Our church motto is In The Community For The Community," Martin said. "My message this Sunday will focus on God's love and His plan for your life."

There will be a number of free activities and events, including free door prizes, free food, free activities, inflatable's, finger printing provided by the Central City Police Department, and a fire truck on display courtesy of the Central City Fire Department will showcase a CCFD fire truck.

Martin is a native of Central City and has spent 19 years in the ministry. He graduated from Muhlenberg North High School in 1995, before attending and earning his bachelor's degree at Western Kentucky University. He graduated from the Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in Louisville in 2005. In addition to his ministry, he is the Internet Sales Manager at Pogue Chrysler in Powderly.

"I was saved during a revival at the Ebenezer Baptist Church in Central City when I was eight years old," Martin said. "It was during a revival at the church. As a child I became involved in ministries at the church with my pastor, Otis L. Cunningham. I assisted Pastor Cunningham pastor wherever I was needed. I would clean the church, printing bulletins, just whatever work that was needed. I felt God calling me into the ministry. I often helped my grandfather when he cleaned the First Kentucky Bank in Central City. He instilled that work ethic in me. I majored in computer technology. My favorite verse is Philippians 4:13: 'I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me'. I have been led by that verse throughout my ministry."

After leaving Central City, Martin continued to grow in his ministry. He earned his bachelor degree from Western Kentucky University.

"After college I felt God calling me to go to seminary to prepare for full-time ministry," Martin said. "After seminary I worked full-time at First United Methodist Church in Central City as Minister of Children and Youth. Then I went to David Chapel Missionary Baptist Church in Austin Texas as Minister of Students. Then I went to Fallbrook Church Houston Texas as Minister of Children and Youth."

Martin has a huge number of years in the ministry.

"I have experience in children's ministry, youth ministry, and evangelism," Martin said. "I have worked in churches with membership ranging from fifty people to 8,000 members in both Kentucky and Texas. Community Church exists to serve our community and introduce our community to Jesus Christ. Serving people and meeting people's needs is in my DNA. I felt led to start Community Church as a multi-ethnic church. We have a vision to reach people of different ethnic backgrounds and social status. Our vision is to become a place for all people. At Community Church all are welcome, rich and poor. We dress casual, come as you are. Community Church is a church without walls, because we don't have a building. This makes us unique."

Martin said that he felt called to share the Gospel with the 22,000 people of Muhlenberg County who do not have a personal relationship with Christ.

"This church has been a vision I have had since my teenage years," Martin said. "I think it is great to see how a vision I have had for over nineteen years has come to fruition. I see our church making a strong impact in the community. Yes, we are a new church, but I am called by God to share the Gospel of Christ with those who do not have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. My wife and I are called by God to serve the community and meet the needs of the community. She and I will gather with others in worship and Bible study to grow in our relationship with Jesus Christ."

Martin said he finds strength through his favorite verse from the Bible, Philippians 4:13: "I can do all things through Christ, who strengthens me."

"I hope people will feel led to find out more about our church," he said.
