HENDERSON, Ky. (6/18/13) – The driver of a 2000 Saturn was injured in a one-vehicle accident on Stringer Rd. in McLean County at 11:25 p.m. on Saturday, June 15, according to Kentucky State Police Post 16. Authorities said Crystal Dukes, 35, Rumsey, was driving west on Stringer Rd. when she apparently “failed to negotiate the curve and ran off the left side of the roadway.” Authorities said Dukes’ vehicle struck an earth embankment before coming to final rest. She was taken by McLean County EMS to Baptist Health in Madisonville, where she was treated and released. Two passengers in her vehicle weren’t hurt. The McLean County Sheriff’s Department, Southern McLean County Fire District, McLean County Central Fire and Rescue, and McLean County EMS assisted at the scene.
A Lewisport man was injured when a deer entered the road ahead of him on Ky. Hwy. 661 in Daviess County at 12:10 p.m. on Sunday, June 16, Kentucky State Police said. According to authorities, Larry Claycomb, 70, was driving a 2007 Chevrolet Malibu north on Ky. 661 when he apparently swerved to avoid hitting the animal. His car flipped and came to final rest in an earth embankment. He was taken by Yellow Ambulance to Owensboro Health for treatment of injuries.
