uk golf women 300LEXINGTON, Ky. (9/23/13) – On the final day of the Mason Rudolph Championship, the University of Kentucky women’s golf team combined to shoot a 10-over par, 298 to finish the tournament in 10th place at 35-over par overall.
 
The Wildcats saved their best round of 18 holes for the final day at the Vanderbilt Legends Club. UCLA took home the team championship with a three-day total of 14-under par, while Arizona State (+6), Vanderbilt (+12), Duke (+12) and North Carolina State (+16) completed the top five.
 
Rounding out the rest of the standings were North Carolina (+17), Auburn (+21), Alabama (+31), Michigan State (+32), Virginia (+37), Wake Forest (+38), Texas (+40), Baylor (+42) and Princeton (+61).
 
UK senior Liz Breed was the top finisher in a tie for 13th for the Wildcats at two-over par (218). The Waynesboro, Pa., native produced eight birdies and an eagle during the 54-hole tournament. Breed recorded a final round of one-over par, 73.
 
Freshman Haley Mills registered her best score on Sunday with a two-over par, round of 74. Mills tied for 46th at 12-over par for the entire tournament.
 
Finishing one stroke behind Mills was sophomore Sarah Harris at 13-over par, which placed her in a tie for 52nd. Harris notched a final round of 18 score of four-over par, 76. Fellow sophomore Cylia Damerau tied for 63rd at 16-over par after putting together a third round score of seven-over, 79.
 
Of the five UK golfers this weekend, freshman Alessandra Walker improved the most from the first round to the final round. The Paintsville, Ky., native struggled on Friday with a 16-over, but bounced back to record rounds of two-over par, 74 and three-over par, 75 on Saturday and Sunday. Walker came in at 77th at 21-over par.
